Tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterases (TDP1 and TDP2)

Tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterases (TDP1 and TDP2) are enzymes involved in repairing stalled topoisomerase-DNA complexes.

TDP1 is involved in repairing stalled topoisomerase I-DNA complexes by catalysing the hydrolysis of the phosphodiester bond between the tyrosine residue of Type I topoisomerase and the 3-prime phosphate of DNA.

TDP2 is involved in repairing stalled topoisomerase II-DNA complexes by catalysing the hydrolysis of the phosphodiester bond between the tyrosine residue of topoisomerase II and the 5-prime phosphate of DNA.
